Once you've purchased your Roamie Kim eSIM, setup takes less than 2 minutes. This guide walks you through the full installation process for iPhone and Samsung — from scanning the QR code to activating data in Korea.
Make sure you're connected to Wi-Fi before installing. You'll need a stable internet connection to download the eSIM profile. Also, do not close the app or switch screens during installation — this can cause it to fail.
📋 Before You Install — Checklist
- Your phone is eSIM-compatible (see compatibility table below)
- Your phone is carrier-unlocked (not locked to Telstra, Optus, etc.)
- You're connected to Wi-Fi
- You have your QR code ready (sent to your email after purchase)
- You have a second device to display the QR code — or screenshot it first
📱 Installation Steps

Step 1 — Install the eSIM
Open Settings
Go to Settings → Cellular → Add eSIM
Scan the QR Code
Tap "Use QR Code" and point your camera at the QR code in your email. Use a second device to display it, or screenshot it and use the "Enter Details Manually" option.
Tap "Continue" twice
Your phone will connect to the network and install the eSIM. This takes about 30 seconds. Don't close the screen.
Label your eSIM
When prompted, label it "Travel" or "Korea" so it's easy to identify.
Set your lines
Set your default voice/calls line to your regular SIM (Main). Set your Cellular Data line to the Korea eSIM (Travel). Turn off "Allow Cellular Data Switching" to avoid unexpected charges on your home SIM.
Step 2 — Activate Data in Korea
Keep the eSIM OFF until you land
Go to Settings → Cellular and turn your Korea eSIM line off before the flight. The data plan starts counting when it first connects to a Korean network.
Turn it on when you land ✈️
After landing in Korea, go to Settings → Cellular → Korea eSIM and turn it on. Then enable Data Roaming for that line.
Select Network
Go to Settings → Cellular → Korea eSIM → Network Selection and make sure it's set to Automatic. You'll connect to SKT, KT, or LGU+ automatically.
Step 1 — Install the eSIM
Open Settings
Go to Settings → Connections → SIM Card Manager
Add Mobile Plan
Tap "Add Mobile Plan", then tap "Scan Carrier QR Code".
Scan the QR Code
Point your camera at the QR code in your email. Use a second device or screenshot it. Tap "Add" to confirm.
Confirm installation
Tap "Ok" when prompted to turn on the new mobile plan. Your eSIM is now installed.
Step 2 — Activate Data in Korea
Keep the eSIM OFF until you land
In SIM Card Manager, toggle the Korea eSIM off before your flight. The plan activates when it connects to a Korean network.
Turn it on when you land ✈️
After landing, go to Settings → Connections → SIM Card Manager and enable the Korea eSIM. Then enable Mobile Data and Data Roaming.
Select Network
Go to Settings → Connections → Mobile Networks → Network Operators and ensure the correct network is selected (or leave on Automatic).
Install the eSIM at home before you fly. That way, when you land in Korea, all you need to do is turn it on — no setup required at the airport.

Your phone must be eSIM-compatible and carrier-unlocked. Here's a quick reference:

*Exception: Galaxy S23, S23+, S23 Ultra, Z Flip4/5, Z Fold4/5, A54 5G purchased in Korea do support eSIM.
Dial *#06# on your Samsung phone. If you see an "EID" number in the results, your phone supports eSIM.
❓ Troubleshooting
eSIM installed but no data?
Check that Data Roaming is turned ON for the Korea eSIM line. This is the most common issue. On iPhone: Settings → Cellular → Korea eSIM → Data Roaming → ON.
QR code won't scan?
Screenshot the QR code and use your phone's QR reader app to open the activation link directly, or use the "Enter Details Manually" option in your phone settings.
Installation failed midway?
eSIMs can only be installed once. If installation failed before completing, email us at hello@roamiekim.com and we'll help sort it out.
Signal is weak in certain areas?
Korea's network coverage is excellent in all cities and tourist areas. Remote mountain areas and very deep underground locations may have weaker signal — this is the same for all networks in those spots.
